Sheriff condemns hate messages found in Middleburg driveways

Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said hate messages enclosed in baggies with sand were thrown into Middleburg residents’ driveways over the weekend.

Cook apologized to residents who received the flyers. The sheriff also said rumors on social media that the baggies contained Fentanyl were false.

“If you’re the person who did this,” Cook said in a video, “you wasted your time. We’re not going to tolerate this in Clay County, and I am not going to allow your racial propaganda hate message to seep into our wonderful, wonderful community.”
