Soul food festival rescheduled

Green Cove Springs’s Soul Food and Music Festival organizers have rescheduled the event for November 5 after a threat from Hurricane Ian forced them to postpone the festival initially planned for October 1.

The festival starts with a parade at noon, opening ceremonies at 1:30, a gospel hour at 2 and a dance-off, Zumba, a sweet potato pie contest, and a barbecue rib contest at 3. Other events run into the evening.

Last month, city council members declared October 1 as Soul Food and Music Festival Day. Council members presented the proclamation to former Mayor Felecia Hampshire, one of the event’s founders and current festival organizer.
