St. Johns Country Day School focuses on health

The head of school for St. Johns Country Day school said the school is continuing to focus on health and wellness. In a State-of-Sparta message, Valorie Baker noted that the school cleaned air conditioning ducts and replaced aging air conditioning and heating units over the summer.

“But more importantly,” Baker added, “we were able to install air purification systems throughout all the buildings, and HVAC UV lights that were installed on all of the units. This will help us with the air quality that our students have, capturing any random particles and cleaning the air for our students.”

Baker added that the middle school is continuing its wellness courses, focusing on mental health.

“This year, they’ll be addressing subjects such as anxiety, decision-making, and many other topics,” she said, adding that past experts the school brought in discussed suicide and eating disorders.

“This is an area we will stay on top of,” she said. “It’s ever-changing. New situations arise for our students each year, and we’re committed to bringing the best advice and information to our students as well as to your families.”
